Because of Dr. Chopra’s early life association with Ayurveda many of his themes and beliefs are set forth in his first book Creating Health which published in 1986 and in which book he set forth his beliefs of the interconnection of mind and body. It was his stated belief therein that meditation and self-awareness are prime factors in healing mind and body. The same theme was expanded in his Quantum Healing which published in 1989, and in which introduced quantum physics as a means of understanding the mind-body connection and further that consciousness is the basic foundation of nature and the universe. Because of his use of the term “quantum physics” in his work, he has received censure from some physicists who do not agree with his hypothesis.
Dr. Chopra has written more than forty books, is a leader in the transcendental meditation movement, is a co-founder with Dr. David Simon of The Chopra Center, and with his son, Gotham Chopra, and the famed Richard Branson he launched Virgin Comics LLC in 2006. a comic book company, which produces stories (many of which are Indian culture related) for an international audience.
